We were introduced to coding, usually considered a very daunting task, in a fun and simple manner. Try a one-hour tutorial designed for all ages in over 45 languages. Anish of grade 11 shared, “The Hour of Code was an interesting experience for us. Khan Academy is a nonprofit with the mission of providing a free, world-class education for anyone, anywhere. Students were enthralled with creating robots, designing games and their very own Google Doodles. KHAN ACADEMY - more advanced coding: Drawing with Code: Students will learn to program using JavaScript, one of the worlds most popular programming languages. Our Hour of Code is making a statement that the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad is ready to teach these foundational 21st-century skills.” And we know that whatever fields our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on understanding how technology works. ![]() “But only a tiny fraction of us are learning how technology works. “We live in a world surrounded by technology,” said Michelle. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science. ![]() The Hour of Code was launched as a one-hour initiation into the world of computer science, designed to demystify "code", and demonstrate that anybody could learn the basics. Design faculty, Vani Vishwanath and Michelle Massaro, took the lead in organising the Hour of Code at the Academy, as part of the effort to continually bring programming activities within the reach of students. In India, over 1000 Hour of Code events were registered this year. The Hour of Code is a global phenomenon reaching millions of students in over 180 countries. I’m actually currently working on coding my own holiday greeting card on the Khan Academy website, and I have no previous coding experience. It is a celebration happening all over the nation. Learn about the simple steps you can take to prepare your class for an Hour of Code. Hello students! Did you know this week is the official Hour of Code week put on by the website ? The idea is that teachers allow students to learn to code or write some code for at least one hour this week.
